Gerald te Velde was ordained to the office of ruling elder in the Chelsey Presbyterian Reformed Church at a special service on July 8, 2018. The service was taken by the Rev. D. Douglas Gebbie with assessor elders Vincent Gebhart (Rhode Island) and Christopher Levi (Iowa) present. Associated with the Session for the ordination were Jeff George, an elder from the PRC of North Carolina, and the Rev. Donald McClure, a retired Free Church of Scotland minister who has strong family connections with the congregation.
Gerald is married to Shari-Lyn with whom he has seven children: Ian, Josh, Lukas, Aaron, Seth, Anna-Lyn, and Zach. Together, they operate a family farm near Woodford, Ontario, selling naturally raised meat and produce at farmers markets locally and as far away as Toronto.
