Pastor Bryan Peters preached “Sober and Self-Controlled” from 1 Timothy 3:2-3 at the Presbyterian Reformed Church of Columbus.
An overseer must be sober and self-controlled
after the image of the Great Overseer of our Souls.
I. Sober and Self-Controlled
The overseer of Christ’s flock must be sober and self-controlled.
II. In Consumption
He must be sober and self-controlled in consumption.
III. In Emotion and Conduct
He must be sober and self-controlled in emotion and conduct.
Why is drunkenness sinful?
In what ways can we see perfect sobriety and self-control in the life of Jesus?
Are these things only required of overseers?
What does it mean to be “a brawler”?
Does this mean we are never to “fight” in any way?
